Obv: Christ seated facing on throne (without back), wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium and colobium, and raising right hand in benediction; in left, holding book of Gospels; on either side of nimbus ıc—xc.

Rev: + ıω Δєcⲡᴏᴛʜ (or very similar). Facing half-length figures of the Virgin (nimbate, right) and John (crowned, left), holding between them patriarchal cross; the Virgin is wearing pallium and maphorium, and has ⲑᴠ above her head and ᴍᴘ to right (sometimes vice versa); the emperor is wearing loros and holding akakia in right hand; above John’s head, manus Dei.

Notes: exact same type as the thessalonican hyperpyron SB 1947.
